During AGROBALSAS 2025, one of the most important agribusiness events in Maranhão, FAPCEN presented the RAÍZES Trophy to rural producers, scientists, researchers and representatives of national and international institutions, in a symbolic moment that highlighted the commitment to sustainability and environmental regeneration in the northeastern Cerrado.
The ceremony took place in Panel II: Regeneration of Soil, Atmosphere and Water Reservoirs, a space dedicated to the debate on environmental preservation combined with increased productivity. The panel brought together lectures and technical discussions focused on the implementation of conservationist production practices, capable of protecting natural resources without compromising efficiency in the field.
The event also marked the official launch of the Center for Soil, Atmosphere and Water Regeneration, a FAPCEN initiative that aims to integrate science, innovation and regenerative practices to strengthen the productive systems of the Cerrado and ensure their long-term resilience.
Among those present were Dr. João Carlos Sá, a reference in studies on soil carbon; Dr. Ana Paula Packer, general manager of EMBRAPA Meio Ambiente; Dr. Francisco Graziano, former Secretary of the Environment of São Paulo; Dr. Leonardo Munhoz and Dr. Felipe Carvalho, both involved in research on sustainable agricultural systems.

Participating from the productive sector were Paulo Roberto Kreling, rural producer and president of FAPCEN, as well as Clécio Mottin and Fábio Aidar, producers awarded by the Planeta Campo program, recognized for their innovative practices in sustainability. The institutional articulation was also attended by Cid Sanches, external consultant for RTRS Brasil, and Thiago Guedes, Sustainability Manager at Rabobank.
For Paulo Kreling, the moment represents “a milestone for agriculture in the region and an inspiration for all who believe that it is possible to produce while conserving and regenerating while feeding the world.”
With the creation of the Center and the recognition of environmental leaders, FAPCEN reinforces its strategic role as a bridge between scientific knowledge and practice in the field, driving a new cycle of sustainable development in the cerrados of Maranhão and Brazil.
